Is an afternoon of adventure calling your name? How about sneaking away from the daily grind to seek new exploration? Let’s make it better and add a llama as your companion and a wilderness picnic!
Join us on an interpretive nature hike alongside beautiful wildflowers, native plants, clean cool mountain streams, local ecology, healthy calorie burning exercise and best of all…Llamas!
Our Bozeman Wilderness picnics now include a ranch tour to visit with the mama llamas and their babies before heading to the male packer pasture to wrangle, pick out our llamas then venture off to the trailhead just down the road.
Our experienced guides will support you on your hike with identification and medicinal uses of the local fauna, customize the pace at your comfort, breaks to “stop and smell the flowers” and even soak your toes in some clear mountain streams.
Your hike will be 4.4 miles round trip. The hike starts gradually and easy following a beautiful stream and an array of wildflowers for the first 1.5 miles. At this point we veer away from the water and head through the hall of giant lodgepole pine trees, gently gaining elevation. The sounds of the rushing water are replaced by a quiet stillness of bird calls, the wind between the giant trees and the smells of the wild forest. We will slowly hike our way up, breaking as needed. We will merge back with the stream and come out in an open meadow full of wildflowers and open views. A perfect spot for a picnic!
At this point we will picket our llamas and our guides will prepare a wilderness picnic. This is your time to relax at your leisure. Stretch and enjoy the views, take pictures, feed your llama, splash your face and soak your feet in the stream, check out the flora or just sit back and take it all in! Our guides will take care of it all, and are there to create the best experience you can have.
Once enjoyed, we will head back down the trail at a comfortable pace. You’re sure to see things you missed on the way up! In no time we will be back to the trail head where you can finish your evening enjoying the town of Bozeman, or wherever your destination takes you.
